Took a pregnancy test today

Today it's been a week since I was inseminated. The insemination
itself was over very quickly, and though the speculum and the catheter
up my cervix were unpleasant, it was over very quickly. I settled down
with a long questionnaire about my experiences choosing single
parenting, then went back to work.
The doctor had warned me that the hormone injection I had taken would
give a false positive on a pregnancy test for 7 to 10 days, or maybe
longer, but I couldn't wait. The hormones really mess with my mind!
The first few days I felt very pregnant, though it's settled down
somewhat now.
This morning, the test was negative, which means the hormone injection
is out of my system, and if I get a positive result later, it will be
a real positive. I've been feeling nauseous for days now, had heat
flushes, breast tenderness and difficulty concentrating or ignoring
smells.
Today I felt so ill with nausea and so tired that I left work early,
after only three hours. I know that I can't be a wimp like that from
now on, if I really am pregnant, but it's hard to put up with the
symptoms without feeling sorry for myself if it's all due to the
hormone injection anyway.
The cheap tests I bought claim to be able to detect pregnancy reliably
"already" from the first missed day of my period, which is quite late,
in my impatient opinion. Slightly more than a week from now! I'll
probably test again soon, maybe Sunday or Monday.
